Art of the Title Sequence and Analysis of 9 shots

In lesson, we were asked to visit The Art of The Title Sequence web page and choose a title sequence of a movie and analyse it. There was a list of different movies such as Casino Royale, Se7en, Panic Room and many more. After I watched some of the title sequences, I chose Mission Impossible.

Mission Impossible

Above is a title sequence of a movie called 'Mission Impossible'. It started off by quick cut images to give it a fast pace as it is an action movie and the title it self is called MISSION IMPOSSIBLE also give audience a hint that it is an action film. The use of fonts is in capital letters and the word 'Mission' is in italic and in colour white with a black background to make it stand out and appeal to the audience. In this sequence, close up and extreme close up shots are mainly used. For example, an extreme close up shot of Tom Cruise's face to show audience that he's the main character. Furthermore, Tom Cruise is a famous actor known by starring in action movies will also attract the niche audience who loves action movies.

Overall, I chose this title sequence because through out the whole sequence, there was a constant fast pace, upbeat music that I find interesting.
